It seems my kryptonite in the hobby is Sparrow's Shop horns. Jasphene now has two pairs because forest magic and because I want to change her horns when the mood strikes me.
No restraint, no regrets. All the horns.

Edited to add on July 29, 2017: Beware the scammer Hellcorgi (aka Kleincrew and Polina Bliss). It's been 4 months, and I haven't gotten this corset or the other item I ordered from her. In the meantime, her Etsy shop was shut down because of complaints from customers that they didn't receive their orders. I was told she was banned from Den of Angels a while ago.
She claims Etsy was unfair to her and that her items take a long time to ship and often get lost in the mail, but I don't believe that items I ordered two weeks apart, and that she said shipped separately, both got lost in the mail. I believe I was scammed and that she didn't send them. The status in my Etsy order history for both items is "not shipped." It seems that she does make beautiful items and that she sends out some orders but that she also takes orders she never intends to fulfill in order to make money fraudulently. I think she tells people to anticipate a long shipping wait so that they don't file a claim against her within PayPal's allotted time (45 days). Just be patient, she says, when she assures you that your order will eventually arrive. But then it never does. She has a calculated scam going. Many other members of the community have been scammed by her as well over the years. My impression from the community is that, if you buy from her, you are much more likely to not receive your items than you are to receive them. Sparrow's Shop, on the other hand, is wonderful to work with and highly recommended! I'm starting to assemble the look for Prea, my Fairyline Lucywen. Just look at the incredible detail in this custom corset that Hellcorgi on Etsy made for me. I'm so impressed. I can't believe how much detail is in two inches of doll corset. I also commissioned a horn for Prea from Sparrow's Shop on Etsy, as well as a pair of horns for Jasphene. Sparrow's work was one of the main things that made me enamored with the BJD hobby when I first discovered it. At that time, having dolls like the ones on her Etsy page and commissioning an artist like her seemed like something that people from another world did. Now I'm one of those people. It's a bit surreal. Back then I kept debating whether I wanted to join the hobby. I agonized over it because I'm a frugal person, and this hobby isn't cheap. But those days are long gone. Commissioning Sparrow's Shop made me realize how far I've come. More so than anything I've done thus far in the hobby, commissioning her made me realize I'm completely committed to the hobby. I feel honored that I've been able to commission such talented artists whose work I so admire. That is a part of the hobby that I didn't expect to love so much, but it makes sense. I love art, especially exquisitely detailed art. And the items I've commissioned for my dolls are no less than works of art. |
