I just added a bunch of photos like these of Prea to the gallery page, and I'm so happy with them.
Photography milestone achieved! I finally took an indoor photo at night that didn't turn out dark (underexposed), grainy, or yellow! Woo hoo! In fact, this most recent batch of photos are my favorites of Prea so far because she is evenly lit in them. I think the even lighting flatters her face. Unfortunately one of my photography bulbs went crashing to the floor and shattered at the end of my shoot. I was given a couple of bulbs and housings for them, but one housing is a clip, and the other is a canister that doesn't have a stand. Neither of them have stands. They are older, incandescent lights. I'm so pleased with these photos that I would like to invest in a newer studio lighting kit. I'll need to do some research into that. I think spending the money on a new kit will be worth it to have stands for the lights. I'd like to look into stands whose height is adjustable and possibly bulbs that can be set to various strengths (like a dimmer). But maybe I don't need the dimmer and just need a better way to diffuse the light than I have now. I have a lot to learn before I make a purchase. Having good studio lighting will allow me to take photos whenever the mood strikes me, instead of being unable to take photos because it's winter and dark out when I get home from work. It will also allow me to take photos of the dioramas I plan to build, and make stories from those photos. The future is looking bright - and evenly lit. :)
