Making these tiny plants is the most fun I've had in a while. I love them so much! Look at their tiny cuteness! Look at it! Many of them are in real ceramic vessels too, and the vessels match the plants. I'm geeking out!
I often find that my projects work out in the most wonderful ways. I bought most of these pots a year or so ago. I just liked them, and they were the right scale for my dolls. I figured they would look good in a diorama, but I had no particular use for them. When started this project today, I found myself wishing I had more ceramic pots for my plants than the few I bought recently. I looked through my things, and I remembered I already had them! Beautiful ones! And many of them match the plants. Jasphene, my character who is a natural healer, is one lucky doll. These will go in her diorama. I've decided that she will work with things that grow in the earth: plants, mushrooms, and rocks. And she will also work with things like pollinators (moths and butterflies) that enable those things to grow.

My first time applying doll lashes went well. I really like them on Echo. I used a lighted magnifier when I applied them. Now I want to use it for all faceup work, and I think I want to redo Echo's lips at some point.
I was surprised by how much more detail I could see with the magnifier. I definitely think that I could paint a better faceup if I used one. It might even be worth investing in an optivisor, a magnifying visor that I can wear over my glasses. This afternoon I hope to work on Echo's clothes, but my body wants to nap. I'm so torn. Maybe a quick nap and then sewing. I attended my first doll meet on Sunday. It was an hour and a half away from me. I went with another doll hobbyist who, it turns out, lives five minutes away from me. I really enjoyed her company. She was a joy to travel and converse with.
We had the meet at a quirky little coffee shop that let us stay and talk the whole afternoon. There were 9 of us total. I didn't expect such a large group. Everyone was friendly, and we all seemed to hit it off. It was so nice to talk doll stuff in person with other hobbyists. We got off topic sometimes too, and I think we could have talked late into the evening. The group organizer wants to hold a meet at this location monthly or bimonthly, and I'm really excited about that. I would most definitely attend regularly. Now I've seen some dolls other than my own in person. I had never seen an SD before, because I don't own one. I was impressed with the work of the very talented faceup artists and seamstresses in the group. I sold and bought a few things. I sold a wig that I loved but didn't fit my doll. I was elated to see it fit the new owner's doll perfectly. I bought a mask that I fell in love with and intend to paint. New project! All in all, I had an absolutely wonderful first doll meet and am so looking forward to the next one, which I hope to bring my centaur to. I just need to figure out how to travel with her. I'm so excited about these, especially the tiny crocheted items! Now I can put plants in pots, baskets, and display domes.
I'm doing a little photo editing to envision Jasphene's faceup and eyes. I used the photo on the left. My edited version is on the right. This is not my photo. It belongs to etna_san on Instagram, and the doll is her Lorelei. I'm just using it to mock up what I want Jasphene to look like. Jasphene will be a very different doll. But hopefully doing this will help me place and shape her eyebrows how I want them and choose the eye size I want.
