I attended my first doll meet on Sunday. It was an hour and a half away from me. I went with another doll hobbyist who, it turns out, lives five minutes away from me. I really enjoyed her company. She was a joy to travel and converse with.
We had the meet at a quirky little coffee shop that let us stay and talk the whole afternoon. There were 9 of us total. I didn't expect such a large group. Everyone was friendly, and we all seemed to hit it off. It was so nice to talk doll stuff in person with other hobbyists. We got off topic sometimes too, and I think we could have talked late into the evening. The group organizer wants to hold a meet at this location monthly or bimonthly, and I'm really excited about that. I would most definitely attend regularly. Now I've seen some dolls other than my own in person. I had never seen an SD before, because I don't own one. I was impressed with the work of the very talented faceup artists and seamstresses in the group. I sold and bought a few things. I sold a wig that I loved but didn't fit my doll. I was elated to see it fit the new owner's doll perfectly. I bought a mask that I fell in love with and intend to paint. New project! All in all, I had an absolutely wonderful first doll meet and am so looking forward to the next one, which I hope to bring my centaur to. I just need to figure out how to travel with her.
