Essentia, my Doll Chateau Lillian, is too loosely strung and won't stand, but I don't know if I can or should restring her the seemingly crazy way Doll Chateau did. These pictures show how I believe she came strung: I have a proposed restringing that I'm considering: I'm considering using the proposed method above but weaving string 3 under strings 1 and 2.
Another alternative would be to string each front leg independently to its corresponding wing and to string each back leg independently to the tail. I'm taking some time to consider my options, and I'm leaning toward whichever method will more easily allow me to use wire. I think my strategy will be to use elastic (string) to hold the doll parts together and wire to make them hold a proper position instead of trying to use elastic to do both things. I may even have to use the wire to work against the way the elastic wants to pull the parts of the doll. This doll is going to be a project to say the least.
